FreeRegistry collects only the information needed to provide and protect the service. This policy explains what we collect, why we use it, and the choices available to you.
Information we collect
- Account details such as your name, email address, and securely hashed password.
- Registry content, including titles, messages, item links, notes, prices, and images you choose to add.
- Gift-claim and question details that guests submit, such as a name, email address, message, quantity, retailer, order number, delivery preference, or question.
- A protected shipping address when a registry holder chooses to provide one.
- Basic technical and security information, such as IP address, browser type, request logs, and cookies needed to keep you signed in or manage gifts you reserved or purchased.
How we use information
We use information to operate FreeRegistry, save and share registries, prevent duplicate gifts, provide support, send account-related messages, detect abuse, and improve reliability.
Visibility and sharing
Registry owners choose whether a list is public or unlisted. Public lists may be discoverable by anyone. Unlisted lists can be viewed by anyone who has the link. Buyer identities and purchase details are not displayed on public lists. A protected shipping address is shown only through a buyer’s private gift-management link after that buyer chooses to ship a gift to the registry holder. We do not sell personal information.
Service providers
We may use hosting, email delivery, security, analytics, and product-link providers to operate the service. They may process information only as needed to provide those services or comply with law.
Data retention and security
We retain information while your account or registry is active and as reasonably needed for security, legal, and operational purposes. We use reasonable safeguards, but no online service can guarantee absolute security.
Your choices
You can update your account details and edit or delete registry content from your account. To request account deletion, access, or correction, use our contact page. We may need to verify your identity before completing a request.
Children
FreeRegistry is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Changes
We may update this policy as the service changes. We will post the revised effective date on this page.
